Community Read! - Project Director: Bea Webb, HS English Teacher

Milford Central School

2010 COMMUNITY READ

Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse

Siddhartha offers a way to think about life and what matters through the main character’s self-discovery.

We invite parents of younger students to read with their students and discuss what you think as you read.

Themes to consider:

Wisdom and knowledge.

Spirituality.

Truth.

Man and the natural world.

Language and communication.

Time.

Love.

Mortality.

Satisfaction/dissatisfaction.

Materialism.

Philosophy.

Enclosed is a Study Guide which you are free to use or ignore.  The book may be difficult, especially for younger readers, and the questions are included as a source for discussion and consideration.
